RSM Introductory Trial 2010
Written by Dean Castle

Introducing.. the first ever....

RSM Introductory Trial

For 2010, Rover Scout Motorsport has proposed the running of a Multi Club Introductory Trial Rally in which any Rover can compete.

What is an Introductory Trial?

For all the rovers out there, an Introductory Trial is a Rally Event in which Drivers and Navigators compete in a friendly environment in a real Rally Event, but with out the requirements of full specification Rally Vehicles.

This is what you require to compete:

  • A Driver and a Navigator.
  • A normal Road Vehicle that is current considered Roadworthy.
  • Emergency Triangles, SOS Board and OK Board.
  • Fire Extinguisher.
  • Helmets.
  • CAMS Licence (Level 2 Non-Speed Minimum)
  • Be a current member of a CAMS Affiliated Club (Rovers = RSM).
  • A Service Crew would be helpful....
  • Attendance at a Training Night prior to the Rally inwhich we will go through the Navigational aspects and Rally driving expectations.

We are currently looking at an event that would cover approx. 178km including 96km of Competitive Stages around August 2010.

We have the know how, the ideas and the plans..... now we need to know....

ARE ROVERS INTERESTED????

We won't proceed any further with this if Rovers aren't interested. So to ask questions and register your interest you can do one of two things:

  • Leave a message and expression of interest on the Introductory Trial Board on the Forums Page @ www.vicrovers.com.
  • Leave a message and expression of interest on the Introductory Trial Board on the Event Forums Page @ www.thejiggyjiggygroup.org.

As well as competitors, we will be looking for assistance with Road Closures and also Stage Start and Finish Points when Rovers will work alongside experienced Rally Officials.

If you have any major questions:

Fifi Box at Mudbash
Written by Administrator
Monday, 15 June 2009

Following the visit of Fifi Box and the Channel 7 Sunrise team to Mudbash last Friday, Fifi covered Mudbash in two segments on her radio show aired nationally on Fox FM.

Fifi talks about driving Craig's car (Sir Dallas Brooks R.C. with "Bung 'ole) and having the "Cops" breath test her and then issue her with a "Night Club Stamp".

I would like to thank all those Rover Crews participating last Friday morning in the freezing cold.

Special thanks to Ash (Kulamunga Rover Crew), Steve Fagan and Craig Dickson (Sir Dallas Brooks Rover Crew) for assisting Fifi with her driving.

Rovers Lou Pocock and Glenn Gregoire also openly discussed their affection for one another during an interview with Fifi Box and how they "hooked up" at Mudbash (check out clip 2 below).

Thank you to Mafeking Rover Park for supplying catering and the Mudbash team for their Recovery work.

Fifi had a great time and as a result, Rovers received the following media coverage:

Friday morning 5/6/09 - 6am to 9am live on Sunrise
Saturday morning 6/6/09 - Fifi talked about Rovers for 20 minutes on her national radio show
Sunday morning 7/6/09 - Weekend Sunrise replayed Fifi's driving
Monday morning 8/6/09 - At 7.20am, Fifi thanked the Mudbash organisers and replayed the clip once again.

Links to the vision of weather segments from channel 7 are as follows:
Clip 1
Clip 2
Clip 3
Clip 4
Clip 5
Clip 6

For the audio from the radio segment held on the Austereo Network on Saturday Morning is available from the VicRovers downloads page .

We hope to have Fifi come back to Mudbash in 2010...Maybe even as a full competitor for the weekend!  Does anyone need a Rover Advisor?

Extraordinary Rovers Survey
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 22 April 2009

I thought I would provide you with an update from the Extraordinary Rovers = Extraordinary Crews. The collation of all your ideas is now complete and a summary is being prepared for distribution. A team will be developed soon to take the "next step"... You will hear more about the next step team in the coming weeks through your Region Rover Councils.
Also we are looking at setting up a mailing group (email) so that we can keep you informed of progress from the conference, there will be more information about this soon as well..

We know the conference was a resounding success and there was opportunity to provide some views suggestions to improve Rovering. We would like to know what you thought, so we would appreciate it if you took the time to complete a survey which will give us some insight to what you thought was good and what you thought we could improve. This will help us in any future ventures of this kind. The survey can be found here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=PbHOWGX7fW66devBbYi3Qg_3d_3d

Thank you for your participation, there are a lot of great ideas that came out of the conference and I am confident that you will start seeing some of your suggestions implemented very soon...
