Life After Rovers

After rovers there are two options to remain involved in Scouting:

  • Become a section leader (Joeys, Cubs, Scouts or Venturers)
  • Become a Rover Advisor
  • Stand for election in a number of committees that have roles open for ex-Rovers, such as Project Officers on Mafeking, Bogong, Baw Baw and Rover Scout Motorsport. AGMs for these committees usually occur between July  and October each year.
  • Non-warranted roles:
    • District associations (See the Info Book for District Contacts)
    • Group Councils
    • Activity Leader with one of the many Branch Activity Units. (See the Info Book for more information)
  • Join the Australian Scout Fellowship
  • Join a "Guild" which is a group of ex-Rovers continuing their efforts of Rovering.
    • Hoadley Old Boys Organisation - "HOBOs"
      • Made up of ex-Rovers throughout the branch, most originating from the former Hoadley Region. However, anyone is more than welcome to join the guild!

Australian Scout Fellowship

What is the Scout Fellowship?

  • It is the opportunity to remain with or rejoin with Scouts Australia and participate, as often as you may wish, in a wide range of social and scouting activities with other present & former Leaders.
  • Every member of the Australian Scout Fellowship enjoys full membership of Scouts Australia and all the privileges that go with it in Victoria.
  • Members of the ASF retain the right to wear Scout uniform and are actively encouraged to promote the objectives and values of Scouting within their immediate communities. This eligibility of members to qualify for Long Service recognition remains intact.
  • Members of the Australian Scout Fellowship (Victorian Division) can keep themselves up to date with current Scouting activities and initiatives by subscibing to the Australian Scout magazine. Three times a year you will also receive a newsletter "The Voice of the Fellowship" to keep abreast of ASF activites.
  • Through it's broad membership base of past leaders, regular opportunities exist - for those who are interested - from assisting at working bees to the provision of temporary leadership support, consistent with past experience & training, to Scouting formations when needed.
  • But the key word is "Fellowship"

More details about the Australian Scout Fellowship can be found on MyScout.
