Rover Advanced

The fourth & fifth step in the Rover Training Scheme is the Rover Advanced (Wood Badge) Course. This is the course is designed for Region & Committee chairman positions and above and is tied closely with the Commissioners Phase 4 Training. Similar to the Basic course it is broken into parts, five parts in total.

Firstly the Basic course and pre-course Advanced workbooks need to be completed.

Secondly, the first weekend is spent developing a deeper understanding of the Core components of Scouting:

  • Scouting Knowledge and Fundamentals.
  • Leadership
  • Personal Skill Development

Thirdly, the Rover Advance Sectional component:

  • Organisational Management.
  • Programming.
  • Group Dynamics,

Fourthly, Elective modules such as Counselling, Crisis management, Negotiation skills etc. are chosen by the course participants on the second weekend of the course.

The last and Fifth component is the evaluation process, which is an assessment of all completed workbooks and evaluation of the training being put into practice over a period of time. On successful completion the wood badge is then awarded.

Certificate IV in Leadership, is also available, on the successful completion of allocated work.

How do I apply? Send a complete TR1 (Adult Training Application form) along with a cheque for the nominated amount to the Branch (Payable to Scouts Australia).
