Welcome to the new Victorian Rovers Website
Well, it is finally complete!
The new Victorian Rovers Website has been completed. This has been around 6 months in the making with hard work by many Rovers and associates to make it all happen. We hope that this site will further fufill the needs of Rovers in all aspects of Rovering, from service logs, training and general information.
This new site is also the home for all of the Region Communities. Rovers can submit news and other information to the site with a few easy steps that is displayed on the appropriate pages, allowing for simple access and distribution of information.
Did you know that you can logon using your existing scout registration information? If you are registered as a Rover and have your scout registration number, you simply enter it into the Username field and use your date of birth as your password (being DDMMYYYY, for example 01021988 for the 1st February 1988). After your first logon, you'll need to change your password to be more secure.
On a weekly basis, the site will email everyone who has an email address configured in the system a copy of the latest articles and events, so you can be up to date in the world of Rovering.

Branch Commissioners Reviews
Every three years, the appointments of the Branch Commissioners are reviewed. This is an opportunity to review the actions and tasks completed by the commissioners during their current term and to provide positive feedback or indicate areas for improvement.
Currently, our branch commissioners and honorary treasurer for the Rover Section are:
- Craig Whan – Branch Commissioner for Rovers
- Chris Young – Assistant Branch Commissioner for Rovers – Training & Development
- Greg Davies – Assistant Branch Commissioner for Rovers – Activities
- Jody Freeman - Honorary Treasurer
This is an opportunity for you to submit your comments (both positive and to provide areas to improve) and have them conveyed back to them.
A copy of the duty statements for the three commissioners is available in the Victorian Rovers Policy Book beginning on Page 55.
The process is strictly confidential. The reviews will be taking place at the end of August.
You need to have all comments submitted to the BRC Chairman by 1st August 2010. They can be submitted by mail or by email.

Branch Commissioner - Rovers - Expressions of Interest
As most of you are aware, our Branch Commissioner for Rovers (Craig Whan) has resigned and will be leaving his role at Rover Dinner in 2010. As a result, the search for a new Branch Commissioner is now underway.
The appointment of a Branch Commissioner is the responsibility of the Chief Commissioner (Victoria), Bob Taylor. However, as Rovering is self governing Rovers will be submitting a recommendation to Bob Taylor for the most appropriate person to undertake this role for the next term.
Beginning now and until the 30th July 2010, expressions of interest are being accepted for the role. After 30th July, the appointed team of the BRC Chairman, BRC Deputy Chairman and BRC Assistant Chairman (with an advisor) will be conducting interviews for the role. At the completion of the interviews, a recommendation for the most appropriate applicant will be made to the Chief Commissioner. These recommendations will be submitted to the Chief Commissioner by the middle of August 2010. All applicants will be notified in due course once the Chief Commissioner has made his decision.
Expressions of Interest can be submitted to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , by 30th July 2010. Expressions of interests need to cover the following points:
- The applicants long term goals for the section.
- Prior experience with similar roles.
- General explanation of what they believe they can bring to the role.
- Other involvements or past experience within scouting
Please note, that while nominations are going to be accepted from Rovers who wish to nominate someone for the role, they must be accompanied by a Expression of Interest.
